Accessibility
Last reviewed: 12 July 2026
Accessibility is the product thesis, not a checklist item: Trumis exists because complaint forms exclude exactly the people most likely to need them — anyone stressed, time-poor, or whose first language isn't English.
Built-in by design
- No forms. People talk the way they'd tell a friend — there are no field labels to decode, no categories to self-classify into, no validation errors.
- Speak any language. You can tell Trumis what happened in any language; it replies, confirms and writes the complaint in English, 中文, Tiếng Việt, العربية and Ελληνικά, and answers anything else in English.
- Voice or text. You can speak instead of typing — a short recording is transcribed and then discarded — and it works in any language.
- Plain-English documents. What Trumis writes is meant to be read — by the person and by the organisation.
- No time pressure. Conversations have no session timeout; everything is saved on the person's device, so they can leave and come back.
Conformance target and current state
We target WCAG 2.1 AA across trumis.com.au and the widget. Honestly stated: conformance has not yet been independently audited. What we verify ourselves today:
- Semantic headings and landmarks, skip-to-content links, and keyboard operability across the site's pages.
- Text alternatives on informative images; decorative marks are hidden from assistive technology.
- Content reflows for small screens and 200% zoom; no horizontal scrolling in reading content.
- The conversation renders as a document-ordered transcript, so screen readers encounter it in reading order.
Known limitations
- The app requires JavaScript — there is no non-scripted fallback for the conversation itself. The guides and every informational page work without it.
- Some secondary (muted) text is near the AA contrast threshold; we are reviewing it.
- Screen-reader announcement of newly arrived chat replies relies on focus order rather than a live region; a live-region implementation is on the list.
- An independent WCAG audit has not yet been commissioned. Licensed partners deploying to government pages can arrange one on a pilot — we'll cooperate fully and publish the findings here.
Found a barrier?
Tell us and we'll fix it or find you a path around it: info@trumis.com.au. We acknowledge within two business days. If Trumis isn't usable for you, the guides explain how to make the same complaint by email or phone, and every Australian ombudsman scheme accepts complaints by phone.
